| Life is comfortable but a little dull for nine-year-old twins Ekom and Chike, who live with their widowed mother, Ima, and teenaged aunt, Mfon, in Lagos, Nigeria. What the twins want more than anything is for their mother to spend time with them, but Ima, unaware that she is neglecting their emotional welfare, is more concerned with running her late husband’s successful import/export business, Across Borders. While Ima is away, it falls to beautiful, but naive Mfon, to take care of the twins. When Mfon becomes distracted by the attentions of an unscrupulous man, the twins, with no mother figure offering guidance, are led astray by Chike’s unprincipled friend, Michael, who happily encourages them into deeper and deeper trouble. Ima, away overseas on business, has no clue that her family back home is teetering on the brink of disaster.
