Alba Amoo-Gottfried

Alba Kunadu Sumprim is a shoot-from-the-hip; take no nonsense writer, filmmaker, intrepid traveller, giraffe fancier and employee of Kitty-Blu, her bossy cat. She graduated from the Cuban film school, as an Editor and worked on several independent films in Cuba and London before returning to Ghana, where she earns her living through writing and putting her film making and radio skills to use. She was part of the writing and editing team of the BBC WORLD SERVICES Radio drama, ‘Story Story, Voices from the Market,’ for over ten years. She also wrote and directed episodes of the TV drama ‘Wetin Dey!’ More recently, she has worked on MTV Shuga Naija. Alba is the author of two books of short stories and cartoons, The Imported Ghanaian and, A Place of Beautiful Nonsense. She recent directed and produced a show for teen girls, to air on TV soon. Having been battered into submission, Alba insists on staying in Accra, where she is regularly accused of being Senegalese, Malian, Ivorian, Liberian, Zimbabwean, Jamaican, in fact, any other nationality but Ghanaian.
