the apple of my parents' eyes

My name is Okoye, Favour Odira, a writer and a poet. I am here to introduce my book, which is founded on the bedrock of Autism. Autism is a type of disorder in both children and adults, that tampers with their brains and makes them less receptive to people around them. Autistic people are very intelligent or witty when they desire to. Otherwise, they can lock themselves up and won’t open up to people. The fear and struggle in this area is indeed perplexing but not insurmountable. This has brought about anxiety and lack of responsibility from majority of parents and guardians towards the autistic individual, thereby leading to series of neglect and offering them for adoptions. These issues caused me to coin my novel ‘The Apple Of My Parents Eyes.' This is a novel with great insights. More so, it brings an outstanding and irrepressible faith to every individual who is directly or indirectly involved in this. With the increasing rise of Autism in the world, there needs to be a focal point to educate parents and guardians, and proffer a working solution and hope to them. This book also highlights the relationship between parents and guardians, children and the way your actions determine the outcome of your life. There are times when we are at a loss on how we should handle a particular issue. We are at a loss at how to show our emotions or what decision to make. The autistic child and her guardians has it worse than we can imagine, knowing that whatever they do might affect the child adversely or bring about a deeper Gap instead of bridging the Gap. This books covers all the points above, bothering on self love. Self love is much deeper than acknowledging the fact that you are beautiful, witty or intelligent, it encompasses the act of loving our flaws and also trying to improve ourselves in all areas. That’s exactly what my book capitalizes on. You can’t love yourself and not extend it to others around you. When you have self love, you are able to come to terms with your weaknesses. This book offers an exposure that’s often times overlooked in our generation as unsubstantial, it makes you stand on your toes to check your life where it is and also know what matters.
