made easy literature-in-english (for ssce 2021-2025)

Made Easy Literature-in-English is a well-thought-out book which addresses the complexity that is associated with many textbooks on Literature-in-English. Foremost, the textbook gives a precise approach to the area of literary appreciation which is fundamental to the subject. The challenge that many Literature-in-English students and, occasionally, teachers face is the rudiment of the subject. Of course, if the foundation is faulty, what would the righteous do? An aspect of this book is a response to this lacuna. Importantly too, the book painstakingly takes care of the harmonised list of set texts for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examination Council (NECO) as well as Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 2021–2025. It provides an exclusive analysis of these texts for easy understanding by the candidates. Moreover, it is packaged in strict adherence to the harmonised 2021–2025 syllabus of these bodies. The book contains detailed comments on the William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a comprehensive analysis of the four drama texts, four prose texts, and twelve poetry texts, both African and Non-African. It gives special focus on the forms, settings, thematic preoccupations of the texts, characters analysis, language and techniques (narrative, dramatic, and poetic techniques) employed by the authors. More so, it pays close attentions to the authors’ biographies and context/background on which the works are situated for better insight into the texts. The textbook is indeed a product of both academic qualification and many years of classroom experience in teaching the subject. It also provides practice questions, and ample model questions and answers that serve as guides for students in approaching questions during the examinations. While they serve as likely questions in their examinations, they also prepare them for examinations. In all, this book is recommended to schools for teachers’ notes and guides. It is also ultimately prescribed to students as an invaluable complement to the recommended texts, as it has been cut-out to suit all categories of students, average ones inclusive.
